Research Collaboration and Academic Exchange with Professor Sung-Bom Pyun (Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Korea University)

On October 15, 2024, our research lab participated in a collaborative research meeting at the invitation of Professor Sung-Bom Pyun from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Korea University. During the meeting, Professor Pyun shared valuable resources related to the development of an aphasia patient database, and we discussed potential avenues for future collaboration.

Professor Jee Eun Sung presented findings from her cross-linguistic research on individuals with aphasia, focusing on differences observed in verbal fluency and picture naming tasks across language and cultural groups. The discussion highlighted how cultural and linguistic backgrounds can shape language processing, sparking dynamic exchanges of ideas.

Professor Swathi Kiran from Boston University also attended the meeting and introduced the Constant Therapy program, providing an opportunity to explore the latest therapeutic approaches for aphasia.

This meeting reaffirmed the value of diverse academic perspectives and laid the groundwork for future collaborative opportunities in neurogenic communication disorder research.

2024년 10월 15일, 저희 연구실은 고려대학교 재활의학과 편성범 교수님의 초청으로 연구 교류 미팅에 참석하였습니다. 편성범 교수님께서는 실어증 환자 데이터베이스(DB) 구축과 관련된 연구 자료를 공유해 주시며, 향후 협력 가능성에 대해 논의하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

성지은 교수님께서는 cross-linguistic 실어증 환자군을 중심으로 진행하신 연구를 바탕으로, verbal fluency와 picture naming 과제에서 언어 문화권 간 차이에 대한 연구 결과를 공유드렸습니다. 이를 통해 다양한 문화적 배경이 언어 처리에 미치는 영향을 다루며 활발한 의견을 나누었습니다. 

또한, Boston University의 Swathi Kiran 교수님께서도 참석하셔서 Constant Therapy 프로그램을 소개해 주셨습니다. 따라서 실어증 치료에 대한 최신 접근법에 대해 함께 논의할 수 있었습니다.

이번 교류를 통해 학문적 접근의 다양성과 협력 가능성을 확인하며, 향후 연구 교류 기회를 기대할 수 있는 계기를 마련하였습니다.
